Delivering value from existing systems is essential. The arrival of NPfIT means that some changes to existing systems are inevitable. However, for many Trusts the plans involve a considerable delay for varying reasons. In order to prepare for later changes and deliver on current priorities, it is important to make sure that the value from current systems is maximised. This is especially important in terms of developing the ownership and buy-in for any later projects.

Over the last 14 years we have enabled clients to deliver value from their systems in a number of ways, for example:

• by conducting root and branch reviews of systems, their use and the processes that surround them in order to show how improvements to workflow can be made

• by considering carefully the people issues and the benefits that staff are looking for in the use of their systems

• by engaging and managing suppliers to ensure that opportunities for creatively using the functionality available are maximised
