Strategy development and programme management

In the post NPfIT world there is still a need to consider the overall strategic position of the Trust/ Care Community. We use the Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) standard to develop the portfolio of the projects necessary to deliver on NPfIT and non-NPfIT related agendas.

Our philosophy in this arena is to use the MSP standard but apply it within the context of NHS managerial structures and processes.

Our role would typically involve working on the Programme Identification and Definition stages in the first instance. This can involve our assistance or leadership in:

• agreeing a programme mandate

• defining a vision for the programme

• developing an overall project portfolio

• identifying business cases for particular projects or the programme as a whole

• developing organisational structures for the on-going management of the programme
